Desiree Magsombol, BA, JD

Desiree F. Magsombol JD, is a Facilitator of The Resilience Toolkit Facilitator and a TRE (Tension/Trauma Release Exercise) Provider. Working with, living in, and being a part of communities with high levels of trauma and a limited access to mainstream tools, Desiree is committed making multi-modality tools of resilience accessible to all communities. Desiree has worked as an advocate for foster youth, LGBTQ survivors of domestic violence, and survivors of sexual violence in prisons and jails. For six years, she provided training and technical assistance, developed policy, protocol, and programming to prisons, jails, juvenile facilities and sexual assault agency staff across the US to address sexual abuse behind bars. Desiree program manages and facilitates programming for community and professional organizations, provides TTA, subject matter expertise, consultation, and program design for organizational clients about resilience building, stress and burnout management, and trauma-informed resilience oriented approaches. In her free time, she co-facilitates the BirthWorkers of Color Collective Mentorship Program, serves as a Board Member for Masjid Al-Shareef in Long Beach, and volunteers as a co-mediator in Orange county courts dealing with small claims and restraining orders.
